2.nd modification of Dignan split developer
Bath A
500 ml water
9 g Sodium Sulfite
9 g Sodium Sulfite
1 g Potassium Metabisulfite
11 g CD4
Water to make 1 liter
pH should be acid
Time duration: 10 minutes or more
Note: Keep in a dark bottle to prevent oxidation
Bath B (tested)
500 ml water
25 g Potassium Carbonate
25 g Potassium Carbonate
0,6g Potassium Bromide
Water to make 1 liter.
Water to make 1 liter.
pH: 11,...
time: 10 minutes or more, frequent agitation, 3-5 gentle rotations per minute.
Note: This last version is almost like the original. The differences are only to substitute bisulfite for metabisulfite in bath A and lower the amount of Potassium Carbonate in bath B and a slight increase of Bromide. Less Carbonate lowers the pH a little and give less greenish negatives. Frequent agitation is needed for a more even development w/o spots and marks.

Would be interesting to find out how it's working?
What do you mean? Working good or bad? Or how it can develop at all? The Chemistry behind? To show pictures done with?
Another variation of the B-bath is given here:
http://silent1.home.netcom.com/Photography/Dilutions%20and%20Times.html#2-bath_C-41
But I found a better and cheaper formula for bath B, I will publish soon here and also in a post.
how many rolls can 1L of Dignan do ? it seems to expensive if only a few rolls can be developed . cheapest ive seen CD-4 is around $80 for 100 grams .
I don't know exactly but not less than 50 for bath A. I am assuming you use some 10 ml each time and that you may use 500ml of the 1 liter until it goes bad for some reason. For instance too much light may oxidize the bath. Bath B is very cheap, but also reusable a couple of times, 6 times is OK. So, if you spend $10 with CD4 and divide by 50, it gives 20 cents of CD4 per roll or less.
But the price you mention is very high, I bought 100 g for 40 € from Germany.
Hi,
I've been trying this recipe with Kodak portra. But i'm getting a lot of green/yellow cast.
Can you please take a look at my photos?
Yes, I believe you! That's why I tried to lower the content of Potassium Carbonate of the second bath. But it still don't give a professional negative.
Where are your photos?
I can't upload pictures here i think.
here's a link.

Very nice pics! We may assume that it is a kind of crossed processing, but it is also a new style. I never got results like a lab processed film, but always scanable and after a short treatment they look ok!
The Ph on my bath B is around 11.5, 11.6. Even with reduced Potassium Carbonate.
is that normal?
i read somewhere that C-41 dev PH should be around 10.3.
Is it possible to get it down to around 10.3? maybe with increased bromide and Increased developing time?
Проявил в оригинальном рецепте, только ванна А разведена 1+1 и удаленно время, а ванна Б сток. Но при этом температуру поднял до 38 градусов. Результат просто идеален, позже в фейсбук покажу результат.
Thank you for your findings. You are shurely right!
This is such nice and useful information for us. I really appreciate this blog to have this kind of knowledge and it is good to know the latest updates. Also explore Potassium Carbonate Suppliers
Проявитель просто идеально работает только со свежими фотоплёнками, просроченнве фотопоенки получаются очень плохо, с сильным искажением цаетов. Вывод, проявленте только свежих фотопленок, просроченную не полявлять.
